Bankruptcy Attorney

Since 1990, I have built a bankruptcy practice that specializes in helping hard working families and businesses, who through no fault of their own, find themselves buried under a mountain of debt. I help my clients get their lives back by utilizing federal bankruptcy laws under Chapters 711 & 13.

Ok. Here's where I'm supposed to tell you "dry" boring stuff:

  • I am recognized by my peers and other professionals as a highly skilled and experienced bankruptcy attorney.
  • I am licensed to practice law in all California courts, and in the California Supreme Court.
  • I am admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, including the Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Alright, but I’d like to tell you a little more about myself.

Military Experience and Education

Having grown up in California, I spent four years after high school in the United States Navy, two of those years on board the U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier, which I couldn't wait to get off. However, nowadays when anyone comes to visit San Diego, I offer to take them to visit that same ship we now enjoy as a must-see floating museum. Age certainly gives you a different perspective.

After the Navy I obtained my undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Journalism and then my Juris Doctorate from the University of North Dakota School of Law. How I got from California to North Dakota is another story, but it does involve a certain "girl" and it includes the first Pistachio Nut harvest in California.

The Call to Bankruptcy

I found law school a far cry from the excitement projected by "Paper Chase" or "L.A. Law", and I remember wondering why I thought becoming a lawyer would be fun. Fortunately, during my third year in law school I took a bankruptcy course, and I knew that's what I wanted to do. While many students in law school were going for Moot Court or fighting for a spot on the Law Review, I was spending time in the basement of the school library to make sure I knew "how to" set up a bankruptcy law practice after graduation. After graduating from law school, I returned to California with my infant son and that "girl" who is now my wife and set up a law practice in San Diego.

Personal Life

Since opening for business more than 30 years ago, my practice has been limited to bankruptcy and tax issues, or as I refer to it now, I help clients with their excessive debt and tax problems. My wife and I, married now for over 34 years, are the proud parents of an adult son and daughter.
